unabhängig vom Datum ist das Thema immer noch aktuell. Nur leider handelt es sich bei deinem Link um die Stutzen für die 4 Zylinder Version die passen leider nicht.

ich wäre mit einem Satz auch dabei.

Im Moment helfe ich mir durch Erwärmen mit einer Heißluftpistole und Einpinseln mit Rizinusöl. Das erleichtert aber nur die Montage - sie werden butterweich - allerdings nach dem Erkalten sind sie wieder hart.

Ob das die finale Lösung ist, lasse ich erstmal dahingestellt :-)
Zumindest ist das besser als sich mit ausgehärteten Luftansaugstutzen rumzuärgern und es erleichtert einen evtl. Vergaseraus- und einbau erheblich.

It should be noted this is especially suitable for the later years due to the clamping ability of the airbox #14 and #16 to seal the snorkel.



I preferred the Moog brand but there are others that make steering rack gaiters like it. The exact part number I used escapes me now. I am sure your local auto parts retailer can help you match up the size you need off the shelf.

Sounds like a reliable solution, though !
Airbox of LTD Y1 (1982) seems to use the same two parts at the airbox to hold the "snorkel".
Funny word and sounds familiar. In german it is "Schnorchel" ;-)

Is this rubber piece you used a part that is used for car steering systems or is it used at the "drive shafts" of a car ?
I am not a specialist in car parts but my fellow german guys will help me to find the correct translation ;-)

Yes, this is boot #6 used for the rack and pinion steering off of an automobile. Here is a parts explosion picture chosen at random from the interwebz.



There are probably viable substitutes out there from motorcycle forks but this was the easiest to source. There were many different sizes on the shelf of my favorite automotive parts store and the clerks just let me open and look at all of them until I found a snug fit for the outside diameter of the BS34. I still use the springs around them on the carb side but it's hardly necessary. More for aesthetics than security. Being that they are an automotive grade component the rubber is a higher quality and heavier than fork gaiters too so will probably outlast the bike.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Michael (and all the members here even) for the effort and contributions to this website. I have enjoyed many of the articles, posts, and pictures. Great job!
