Forks removed and taper bearings snugged down. Finally [ last time ! ] all refitted and just waiting for my special fork brace.

The belly pan mounting brackets have been made and painted primer. Once the cosmetics are completed it will be painted in the same red as the frame.

Grimeca brake linkages have been found [ !! ] and laid out to make certain I have all the parts [ yes ]. Once I've had a dry run, I will respray the Black on the brake plates.I will have the front wheel spindle and spacers zinc or gold passivate plated. Then the front end can be assembled for good !

I have finally found a suitable fork brace ! I found a company that will make a unit [ CNC ] from billet. :headbang:

Here is there stock item. However, I am having my own wording lazer engraved on the top. The cost is very reasonable as it is virtually a one off. Now they have the programme they can reproduce them easily. Cost including bespoke engraving is around £150.00

Hi TJ,
that looks superb and the engrave is a commitment.
We will have a Z750Twin stand this year at Glemseck 101.
I will reserve an exclusive parking lot for your Twin ;)
Cheers, Michael

Hallo Michael,

I am not going to make Glemseck this year - but you can already see my commitment.

I have some very serious issues in my private life - I will PM you soon.

However, the bike will be completed and running for the 2020 event.

Twinfreak - vielen danke for your interest. :thanks:

I hope that the exhaust is welded in the next 2-3 weeks. We are finishing the fuel cell and belly pan this coming week. It has been much more difficult than I imagined, but everything is good.

Fuel filler system is now complete.

Also the seat mountings and rear "tank" mount.

Next job is to position the foot pegs.

Hi TJ,
everything is fine !
Looks good and I can see your commitment very clearly.
Looking forward to your progress ;)

For the footpegs I am using the foldable Tarozzi universal and fit them with an individual shaped, 10mm thick aluminium sheet to the stock mountings of the frame.
For my Race Twin I am currently using fixed steel footpegs with a 10mm aluminium sheet, that has a hole in it, to go around the bolt and nut of the swingarm bearing axle. Looks interesting in my opinion, allows a strong form, that I trustin, it can bear my weight (75kg+) standing on the pegs.
Pic doesn't show the final shape ;)

What is your idea in regards to the footpegs ?
Cheers, Michael

Michael,

Thanx for sharing your pix.

I am also using Tarozzi units - pegs and controls.

I have to mount my pegs further back as my poor old knees do not bend so well ! Originally I had planned to pick up pretty well where you have yours, but I need to have the pegs about 15cms further to the rear.

My pal has some alloy plate and our next job after the seat and tank are fixed will be for me to sit on the bike and "assume the position" and make some patterns from cardboard then thin plywood.

The seat mounts are nearly finished [ glassed in ] and I will make a simple mount to hold the "tank" in place while we finalise the footpegs.
