Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
I have just returned from a 2 week chill break in Alsace - fantastic !
Progress on the bike at last - the full exhaust has been tack welded tonight so that it cane be removed for full welding and polishing.
When it's completed I will take it to local exhaust specialists Keihin to get a quote for replicas in stainless.

Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
My pal Brian has been in the US since October [ returns March ], so I have no access to my bike in his garage !
However, the exhaust has been tacked and I now have a guy who will do the finish welding. The same guy will weld my alloy fuel cell where I had to modify it.
Of course the RAM studs have been manufactured and also the clutch springs - so a little progress.
The last big item [ expense ] has now been ordered and I hope to have it here in March - the DARC-2 ignition unit with a built in retard facility. My pal is bringing it back with him to save carriage / customs / VAT.

Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
Here's the RAM Hi-Po studs / nuts and uprated clutch springs.
I'm looking at progressive fork springs - any interest ? probably around £65 / pair. [attachment=1]

Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
Here's the studs in my late model "Glemseck" [ eventually ! ] motor.
Screwed in with just finger pressure, didn't even need to clean crankcase threads first.
Only 6 sets left.

Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
Hi TJ,
sorry for causing panic !
I have to apologise for my complaint, as it was my fault with the thread sizes.
The bottom end is M10x1,5 in both cases, so your studs will match the crankcase threads !!!
I was so irritated about the M10x1,5 at the top end of your studs, as the stock ones have M10x1,25 at the top end, that I would bet the bottom end is the same, but it is not.
Please accept my excuse, sorry again !
Best regards and cheers,
Michael

Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
Michael - absolutely NO PROBLEM.
I am sorry for the confusion with the nuts.
It was NOT possible to get the correct grade of nut in the OEM thread without I have to get 2000 !!!!!!
I saw on another forum that 2 guys had BROKEN studs - at the front where all the road dirt and water comes up from the front wheel.
Quite honestly, while I have the very good prices [ cheaper than OEM Kawasaki ! ] it makes good sense to replace them, even on a stock engine rebuild.

Re: Hallo from England - sometimes Saxony !
Finally .... through no fault of anyone - the fuel cell mods / welding have been completed.
Note to others using the tried and tested CAD approach [ cardboard aided design ] - cardboard is easily deformed - not clever when you're trialing it under something heavy !!! Perfect fit now. I'm trying to persuade the same guy to weld up my exhaust. His day job is making Brough Superior frames !!!! So he should be up to the task.
